Simple Solution to Intractable Problems

Plethora of problems haunting humanity today will simply vanish in no time by adopting the principle of ‘Simple living and high thinking’. How can evil take roots in the psyche when every citizen is honest, prudent, responsible and brave? There are enough resources on earth to take care of the basic needs of food, shelter and clothes of all human beings; and provide work to all according to his / her aptitude and talents. How can then there be any disparity between the rich and the poor or that between upper and lower caste?

A man is born to live purposefully, happily and peacefully and not to fight, squabble or quarrel. Once ego-induced selfishness is curbed, the problems arising out of acquisitive drives will vanish. It is the greed for wealth and power that prompts a person to take recourse to ignoble means and in turn disrupts the social harmony.

There are countless challenges faced by individuals and society. The so-called experts are working strenuously in their areas of expertise on each of these challenges, considering these to be separate, but are unable to find lasting solutions. The number of hospitals and doctors are increasing every year so also the number of patients. The government is taking all measures to maintain law and order but the crimes are increasing each day.

In order to solve the problems, we will have to go to their roots. We will then realize that these problems have been caused by our own distorted thinking and way of living. Unless there is a unitive paradigm shift in the collective human consciousness keeping in view the common good, we are heading towards a mass suicide. Life-affirming spirituality alone can solve all the problems and open the door to a happy, healthy and harmonious life on earth.
