Essence of Saktipata and Kundalini- Awakening -2 - Amritvani

Friends,

A motor runs using suitable fuel (petrol, etc), electricity or other source of energy. What will a motor do without these? Awakened kundalini illuminated my wisdom, transmuted my vision and induced enlightened thought-power in me. But immense force from within and inner strength was required to assimilate and bring these into action. The insight of what is good and what is not, what is right and what is wrong is fine. But one also needs to eliminate the wrong (conceptions, tendencies, thoughts) and adopt the good in real life. It is a Herculean task to alter the old habits, to modify the intrinsic convictions, or to uproot the prejudices. As a drunkard can’t leave liquor, most people find it almost impossible to leave the addictions, the vices.

The hidden thieves of our mental tendencies, the enemies within are most dangerous.  They enslave our mind and hence capture our activities in their vicious cycle. We need to be alert and fight them out round-the-clock. One can’t get rid of the weaknesses of character even if one knows about these, because one does not have the prana and inner-strength required for it.

One also needs tremendous power and unflinching determination to adopt the good. Stronger will, intrepid courage and tolerance are required for this than what a warrior needs in the battlefield.

The saktipata bestowed by my guru generated immense courage and strength in me so that I could move ahead to accomplish the divine mission he had assigned to me. It was a great boon of the Almighty. God has helped me at every step. As a father rides his child on the shoulder, holds his hand to support him walking, the same way God has taken care of my endeavors. God stays with us according to our faith and devotion. Remember, God is far away from sycophancy.  Don’t think that He is pleased by your rituals of worship or by the offerings you make before His idols in a shrine. Faith in God means faith in divine values, moral disciplines, noble virtues — compassion, generosity, selfless service, and integrity. And devotion means dedicated adoption of these in conduct.

Whatever has elevated me and enabled me to take up His task, I regard it has been possible because of awakened kundalini and saktipsta. I am indebted to my noble master (Guru) for awakening my otherwise dormant potentials and illuminating my inherent virtues. Potentials of a mighty tree are hidden inside a tiny seed. Proper soil, water and sunlight help it sprout and grow. This is what the blessings of saints do; they lend support for activation of our saintly potentials. But remember, the seed has to dissolve, lose its identity, sprout and transform itself into a sapling to make use of the soil, water and light. For adequate effect of blessings bestowed upon us, we too have to make ourselves deserving and have to dedicate ourselves for the noble cause to which we are committed.

I also want to give you the kind of support my guru had rendered. “So why don’t you give us now?” — You might wonder! No. It does not work like this. The drop of rain in Swati Nakshatra (a special celestial phase/specific arrangement of planets) when it falls in an open oyster, it helps formation of a precious bead/pearl. But what if the oyster remains closed? Then no amount of rainfall at this specific time would be of any distinct use. How will the sun lighten up one’s house if one keeps the windows and doors shut?  No saintly blessings, not even God’s grace would be able to give us anything if we don’t let it enter our life. Time and again, I tell you that you have to become worthy of accepting and benefiting from the blessings. Whenever I express my gratitude to my divine Guru (through sublime communication), his response echoes - “I also needed a deserving disciple like you”.

I have always tried to constantly refine myself, deepen my faith and devotion in divinity and enhance my ability as per His Will. This is what I want to tell you. Don’t beg for God’s mercy. Don’t run behind any saint or guru for blessings. God’s grace is infinite; there is no dearth of generous saints, sages or their blessings. What is lacking today is worthiness of the takers. You have to have the worthiness to attract saintly blessings. You see, what the inner urge, devotion, faith, and unperturbed attempts of Ekalavya could get from the soil-made idol of Dronacharya in a jungle was much more than what the latter in reality could give to his disciples in the palace. It was Meera’’s devout surrender in God Krishna’s devotion that made her stone-made Krishna Omnipotent for her.  So don’t hunt for some great being who will show you the light. First try to see and light up the spark within you. The reflection of this inner light will do all the wonders.

Don’t degrade yourself. Don’t underestimate your being. Have faith that if you try your level best and take a few steps to chisel yourself and follow your inner voice, I will extend my support to help you march ahead wherever essential. But it is you who has to walk. Divine powers are keen to enter in your life and lend support but you don’t open the doors. Don’t you know how to invite and welcome them? Okay I will give you some familiar examples.

Have you seen the origin of holy Ganga at Gomukh?  It emerges only as a thin stream from about 6ft X 6ft hole. But the same stream later on turns into a gigantic river, which is several miles wide before merging in the Bay of Bengal! How this expansion took place? She was tiny initially but got the support of so many other springs and rivers on the way; they all unified with it. Why? Because, it begins with the high objective of quenching the thirst of the earth and providing pure water to all living beings, and it continues its flow with courage and firm determination while crossing all obstacles on the way.

Nature also supports the uninterrupted continuous flow of rivers Yamuna, Narmada, etc. But it does not help the ponds that way. Why? Because, the ponds do no expand and, unless dug up, they eventually dry up because of their narrowness (confined to limited boundaries) and tendency of holding their water to themselves.

You will find ample such examples in the human society as well. Swami Keshavanand of Rajasthan was an energetic and industrious reformer, who, like a true saint, devoted his life for people’s welfare. He propagated the importance of education among the masses of pre-independence India and opened schools in many villages. Post-independence, he was also chosen a member of Indian parliament several times and expanded this project to higher levels of education.

This small primary school teacher had left the job in pre-independence times and started a primary school for girls in a tiny village. This school, which began like a hutment with hardly ten students, now stands as the well-established reputed “Banasthali University”. The founder had such a great vision and will to encourage women’s education! He began with his meager resources instead of waiting for someone’s support or a government grant. You see, later on he got support from so many quarters! Government of India also recognized and honored his efforts!

Similar is true of globally honored social reformer Baba Amte. He was a low-profile lawyer in Nagpur. Once during the hearing of a case of a leprosy patient who was discarded by his own family, the sensitivity of the saint in his heart awakened. He left the profession and dedicated all his efforts to set up an Ashram for leprosy patients. This Ashram is now a full-fledged institute, which also runs self-employment schemes for the inmates and other physically challenged persons. It also offers training to aspirant social workers.

Do you know under what conditions George Washington, first President of America, grew? His father used to cut wood. When his mother would go to the forest to help him, she would lock the child George in their hutment to protect him from the wild animals, because he was too small to fight them. But look at the course of his life. How he grew and succeeded against all odds? His life stands as live evidence that dignity of character and dedication to noble purpose conquer all adversities and hurdles of circumstances and misfortunes.

If you have such purity and strength of character, if you want to work for a noble cause, I can assure you of the help of divine powers. I will lend you the needed support and guidance. I will also pray and tell my master, the Almighty to give the power, the blessings, I have gained for my benevolent deeds, if any. You will not have to worry to do any mantra japa or worship of a God. You don’t have to search for any saint. I will do all that on your behalf and send you the blessings if only you do one thing, which is kayakalp, before returning to your homes.

As such, in Ayurveda the word kayakalp implies transformation of an old and weak person into a physically and mentally youthful one. But what I mean by kayakalp is the transformation of your mentality, your character.  Your aspirations, your outlook, your personality, your conduct, your behavior should be transformed for better. At present your mind is covered with the smog of ignorance. You seem to identity yourself as the physical body. You recognize yourself by the name given to your physical body. You regard yourself as young or old, poor or rich, weak or strong, etc according to the state and status of your physical being.  But remember your real self is the soul. The body and all its accessories are for its use.

You must find some time every day to contemplate on your real identity. If you cannot, then first do the practice of feeling the separate existence of the two - the soul and the body.  There are several ways of practising this. One easy exercise is: just imagine as though your body is lying dead and you are looking at it from the top of a tower or a mountain or from some height. You should understand that your good, your benefits are different from that of the body.

No doubt, the body has its utility and you should take care of sustaining its health. But remember it’s only a tool. But, at present, you have simply entangled everything. You have amalgamated your consciousness with the physical body so thoroughly that you have completely lost your identity. Your thoughts, your activities revolve only around the comforts and interests of the body and the things, the events, the people associated with it in the physical world.

Once, you practice and start realizing the separate existence and interests of the soul and the body, there will be new thoughts, new goals, new problems and new solutions before you. Your attitude, your priorities, your ambitions, your planning will then change accordingly. This is the change I want to see in you.

The first change I want to see in you is dissolution of your false pride (or the false identity). You should return from here like a mali (gardener) of God’s garden (world) and not like a malik (owner). If you live with the false pride and attachments like a malik, then the world and life would become burdensome. But if you live like a mali, you will enjoy every moment of life and find that the world around also smiles with you.   A bee, when it enters the syrup of sugar, its wings become sticky, so it fails to come out of the syrup pot and it dies there. But if it sits at the edge of the syrup container, it is free of such a risk. At the same time, it also gets the opportunity to taste the syrup from the corner of the pot.  This is how you should live in the world.

Don’t get attached to anything. Just enjoy living disinterestedly and perform your duties towards yourself, your family, the society, and the world as a whole. Adopt the tradition of the rishis; learn to give rather than to grab. Love your wife and also lend friendly support for her progress; shower your affection on your children and other youngsters in the family and also cultivate good qualities in them. Offer your caring support to the elders. Spare your time and resources for social service, social upliftment. Spread goodwill and knowledge in the world at your level best. Don’t worry if you don’t have wealth or talents. Your humility, your cooperating nature, can also give a lot to the people around. You can help many others to improve by the impressions of your improved personality.  Don’t try to rule over anything or expect anything from others, not even from your kith and kins. This is why I say don’t become malik. Live and work as though you are deputed by the Almighty to do the assigned task.

If you chose to live like a malik, you will also have to bear the burden of the sins (committed because of ego and attachments). A gardener nurtures and beautifies his garden. You should also make adept use of time, intellect, and physical body gifted by the Almighty to fulfill the responsibilities entrusted to you by Him. Keep refining and enhancing your inherent potentials, then nothing will block your progress. Instead of beseeching success and happiness from the gods (devatas), be generous and loving like them. Then their grace, their blessings will be bestowed upon you without praying. I have full faith in what I am telling you and I have followed these and experienced the results in my own life.

If you want to be a great personality, be prepared to face ever-harder tests and trials. One has to dissolve oneself like a seed in order to blossom like a tree. Great personalities happily embrace hardships and adversities for the welfare of others. Look at the glorifying annals of human history, you will find that great personalities have even sacrificed their lives for the society, nation, and human values. If you want to be blessed by great potentials, first have such brave heart, strong willpower, and high ideals. Then I will awaken your kundalini and also bless you with saktipata.

|| OM SHANTI ||

Say positive affirmations each morning to open the gates of manifestation.
